How to create:
- Drop any basic grunge style paper in the background and then change the colors and saturation as desired.
- The little dots along the side were created with circle shapes, I aligned about 5 and then copied and pasted them as well as change colors and Opacity to create the effect shown.
- To cut the picture into soft waves: drop the photo on page and then go to your shapes and select the wavy shape under the "Geometric" category. Stretch the shape to match the width of the photo size, and the depth to match however many waves you would like to cut out of the photo. In this Case I cut out 4 waves! Tip: When cutting, start by putting a heavy shadow on the photo. This allows you to see where you have made your cuts therefore making them more accurate. I finished by adding 3 of the same photos overlapping in the corner... just zoom in and adjust to your desire!
- For the Photo in the top left corner, adjust the Edge blending quite heavily (located under tools... look for "More"). You can also intensify this look by dropping the Opacity and adding a soft edge frame under the photos ribbon!
- Add photo to lower right corner, then give white mat to photo. Give heavy shadow. Copy and paste two more times, then layer and arrange as shown.
- Behind the Wavy Photo is an embellishment from the "Elements" digital kit called "Elements-Painted Bubble Wrap".
- The Black Distressed lines above and below the photo are also from elements called "Elements Grunge Scratches".
Give the wave a try! It's alot of fun!!
I LOVE this wave technique.
I think you'll probably have started a whole new "wave" with this technique! :)
Looks fantastic.

ok...I am fairly new to this...sooo...exactly how do you cut the pic into waves. I was able to follow your instructions up to the stretch the wave to the size of the pic for however many cuts you will need, but the only options I get are for color. How do
I get the pick in each wave. Don't laugh!!Thanks

Hi Grace, I am not laughing :) This is a great question!!
One little step I failed to mention is after you place the Photo on your page (add a heavy Shadow) THEN FLATTEN the photo... (my apologies). After you have flattened the photo... (be sure you have clicked on the photo in order to be sure it is selected). Then go up to the top tool bar and locate shapes there... instead of on the right panel.
If the photo is selected... (and flattened) then it should immediately place the grid line for cutting the shape right on the photo. THEN... you will stretch the wave with your mouse and adjust the sizing for the width of your photo and length of the wave for however many waves you want to cut.
When you have finished cutting out the first wave at the top of the photo, you will then select the bottom half of the photo go back to the top and select the shape again... (it should now be exactly the right size wave you need for your next cut, as it will have defaulted to the width and length you just adjusted it to the first time).
Make your second, third, fourth cut etc... and if you haven't been perfect with every cut, that's o.k. When you are finished... over on the left in your elements panel... you will see whatever is left over from the original photo (a little at the top and maybe even a little in between cuts or at bottom).
Just delete that part by selecting that portion in the elements panel, right click and select delete.
Now you can use your little arrow keys on your key board on each wave to seperate them each a little bit.
If you would like to mat each wave as I have done... you can copy and paste each wave individually (change the pieces to white by filling them with a solid color) and then place those colored waves behind the photo waves... (you can move elements behind other element right in the elements panel) does that make sense?

Obviously I'm a little late, since this was posted 2 years ago but I LOVE this! I'm trying to do my best to duplicate it but I'm not sure of the overlay you used. Do you remember if it was posted the same week at the "Love defined" freebie? -Megan
