How to Create:
- Open a blank 12x12 page and go to the Discover Rock Grunge kit and add paper 1. You are going to cut 4 ovals out of this paper by going to Cut&Fill>Cutters>Ellipse. Position one oval at a time and erase it, varying the sizes and positions of the ovals. I went from the top right hand corner of the paper horizontally down, ending with the smallest oval. Now add the next paper, Paper 3 (grey pattern) and position it behind the first paper with the ovals cut out. Click on Paper 4 (blue with orange barb wire) and Make it the background. Select Paper 3 (it is the middle layer right now) and cut out circles, lining them up under the previous cutout ovals. They kind of look like frying egg shapes!
- Select the top layer of paper, go to Format>Shadow>Custom shadow and choose the heavy all around shadow. Now flatten the paper with all around shadow (Arrange>Grouping>Flatten) and go back to Format and add a Heavy Shadow. Do this same procedure to the second paper, now the cutouts in the papers really stand out! (for those crazy detail people, if the blue paper showing through the circles isn’t perfect, then go to the blue paper and cut a new shape then arrange behind the cutouts so you get exactly the barb wire effect you want! That’s what I did, yes I’m crazy). From this kit, add the Splatter element to the page.
- Insert 3 empty photo frames. Make 2 small squares and mat them by going to Format Photos>Frames>Mat>Change Mat fill>Select a Paper fill and choose the blue Paper 4. The Mat settings were width 4 and relief 10. Make a large photo with a 4x6 Portrait aspect (right click on photo, choose Aspect Ratio>Portrait 4x6) and Mat it with black, width 3, relief 10. Arrange the large photo near the right hand side and layer the 2 small photos on top of the bottom.
- Go to the Discover Rock Grunge kit embellishments and add these wordarts to the page: Guy Zone, Authentic, Custom. Fill Custom with black, enlarge and position on the bottom of the right square photo. Drag Guy Zone to the top of the page, enlarge, and fill with a light blue (sampled from an embellishment, like the photomat). Then add the custom all-around heavy shadow. Select the Authentic wordart and enlarge and fill with black. Go to Cut&Fill>Cutters>Custom>Straight edge and trace out the words “gearhead” and erase. Insert a text box, and using Magneto font, type out legohead. Position under the Authentic word and group together. Insert another text box (or copy previous one) and type in legohead in Capture It font and make it larger, like size 48 and change it to blue (sampled from barbed wire paper). Position this blue word under the Authentic (which is positioned in top left hand corner inside the shape with a wing that’s on the paper.
- From the Discover Motor Grunge kit, add gear 2. Enlarge it and fill it with light blue. Go to Format>Filters>3D and move all the sliders to the extreme right, so you get a nice sleek and puffy gear! Place the previous blue Splatter element over the top left side of main photo. Add the orange Mat 8 to the page and go to Cut&Fill>Cutters>Shape and choose a star5 shape from the geometric shapes. Cut out a star from the mat. Now go back to the filters and apply the same 3D filter used on the gear. Position the star, with a heavy shadow, over the light blue splatter. Go to the small right photo and arrange the blue gear underneath it but over the large photo.
- Add a text box to the right side of the main photo and journal! I used GARFIELD font. There you go!
