Holiday Project Idea #43

KristinaalbumThis funky mini album is totally fun!  And, wonderfully simple to create, too!  Give as a gift for the recipient to adorn with photographs, or fill it up with snapshots of past holiday celebrations for a treasured gift.  For added fun, add icon and word stickers from leftover palettes, kits or additions.

How to Create:

  1. From piece of thin chipboard (from packages of CM letter stickers), use Custom Cutting System and circle patterns to cut out the base circle shape. (Kristina used the largest circle with the blue blade for this project).
  2. Cut 2 circles of the same size from colored cardstock. You can use the same color or two different colors. Adhere one circle to front and one to back of chipboard circle.
  3. Cut out a rectangle shape from chipboard and then use that rectangle as a template to cut out two rectangles from white cardstock. Adhere white rectangles to the front and back of the chipboard rectangle. Punch a hole in the middle of the rectangle at the top. Glue the rectangle to the top of the circle. Add staples for extra hold.
  4. Continue steps to make as many chipboard ornaments as you will need for your album. A good tip is to use the first rectangle you made to mark where the hole is for the following rectangles so that all of your circles match up and the album is easy to assemble. String ribbon through all of the holes in the top and tie a bow. Embellish as you'd like. :)

Project created using Cardstock (Taffy, Honeydew, Brick, Pink Lemonade, Cloud, White), Custom Cutting System with Circle Patterns, Expressions of Christmas Vellum Accents, Frosted Splits, Simple Black ABC/123 Stickers, Buttons, Ribbon, and Stapler.

Holiday Project Idea #42

Whether your tree is adorned with spray-painted, macaroni-covered ornaments or Swarovski Crystal Snowflakes, keep record of where each ornament came from, and what meaning it has to your family.  Make sure to photograph existing ornaments, and each year when a new one is received or purchased, simply add a new page to the album.

Page1Page2_2   Page3Page4  Page5Page6 Page7 Page8

Use Jewel Christmas Digital Power Palette. The Brown paper is from Jewel Travel Digital PP Kit. The paper tear was wanded out from Recipe Book Pre-Designed Pages 12 x 12; add shadow to both sides of tear by copy paste a second tear on to the card and change direction of shadow, place tears directly on top of each other. The single ornament was wanded out from the Ornament Tag in Jewel Christmas PP Embellishments. Two ornament overlays were used (overlay Winter Frost 5) from Digital Overlays – Winter Frost. The one on the right side was flipped and matched up to overlay on left by using the rotate icons under the Layouts Tab. The color was changed to match the blue paper using the Sample color dropper under the Tools Tab. To give shadow effect to ornaments on the Ornament Tag, wand out back ground from Ornament Tag in separate layer by adding tag to card again and wanding, place ornaments directly on top of first tag ornaments and add shadow. The brads are from Digital Embellishment – Office Supplies – Silver. The Brown ribbon is from Digital Embellishments – Sewing Room – Romance and the Blue ribbon is from Digital Embellishments – Sewing Room – Primary, I used the Hue icon under the Enhance tab to change the color of the blue ribbon to match. Font is Bleeding Cowboys; the Sample dropper was used for color. Stickers, from Jewel Christmas Digital PP Embellishments, on poem page were given a shadow and circles were cut from shapes, given shadows and added behind.

Poem verbiage: "Some of our ornaments are handmade, some of our ornaments are new, while some of our ornaments are also old, each year to our family they cast a beautiful view. Each one tells a cherished story, which in this book be told. For to our family these are memories to treasure and to hold. -The Carr Family 2008"

The pictures are 1 7/8 x 2 1/4 to fit just inside Tag Maker, SB+ was used to size pictures and for verbiage.

It's a breeze to put together this fold-out family album.  Simply cut two sheets of 12" x 12" White Cardstock in half to create 4 pieces that measure 12" x 6".  Fold each of these pieces in half.  Layer one half each folded piece on top of each other and adhere, forming a "plus" shape.  You should then be able to fold in each piece to create a folded album that measures 6" square.  Embellish each page with photos, stickers, embellishments and journaling.  Add ribbon closure by adhering a piece of patterned paper over ribbon, and attaching to back of album.  Tie closed when folded shut.

This adorably fun calendar makes great use of leftover Power Palette Sticker packages.  Simply trim a piece of patterned paper to measure 12" x 5-1/4", decorate one for each month, and slip it into the packaging.  Bind packaging together using binder rings to create a wonderful holiday gift idea!

Xmasbook1_4 Here's a gift idea that's sweeter than most!  It's a pocket-sized holiday recipe book that contains one of Grandma's favorite recipes. It's a quick and easy gift to create, and one that will be enjoyed!

To create outer cover of book, cut cardstock to measure 7-3/4" x 4-1/2".  To create spine of book, score 3-1/2" in from each edge.  Round all corners. To create center fold out pages, cut cardstock to measure 9-3/4" x 4-1/4".  Round all corners.  Score 3-3/4" in from each edge.  To attach inner pages, adhere one end "panel" of inner foldout pages to inside of book. Create tab closure by cutting cardstock piece to measure 3" x 1-1/4".  Adhere one edge of this to inside of back cover of book, then score and wrap around book.

Project created using Brick Cardstock, Components from Winter Wonderland Max Kit, Corner Maker, Stickers from Jewel Christmas Power Palette Kit, Memorabilia Pocket, Hole Punches (small and large) and Sandpaper. Use computer to create titles and recipe text.  Create book by scoring and folding cardstock.  Insert fold out page by scoring and tri-folding recipe information. Add embellishments and tab closure to finish. For added touch, Clarissa included a small Memorabilia Pocket filled with cinnamon.
