Valentine Project Idea of the Day #35

LoveLetters Create LOVE letters of a whole new kind!  Simply use beautiful papers and embellishments to decorate paper mache letters to create a wonderful home decor piece which will be treasured all year long.

How to create:
Cover work surface with newspaper or other large scrap papers. Paint each letter with brown acrylic paint.  Set aside to dry for several hours before continuing project.

To decorate each letter, lay letter onto backside of patterned paper and trace around. Trim out using scissors.  Lay once again on to front side of letter this piece will cover to verify size.  Once you have verified that the paper will correctly cover this side, apply a medium layer of mod podge to front of letter. Press piece on to side to remove air bubbles.  Repeat this for all sides of letter "L", and front only of remaining letters.  After each letter has been covered with paper, adhere stickers as shown.  After all paper and flat stickers have been adhered, apply a coat of mod podge to each letter, then allow to dry, and repeat 2 more times - according to drying times as stated on product packaging.  (Note: to avoid streaks, a sponge-style paintbrush was used for this project).

After all coats of mod podge have been allowed to dry overnight. add remaining ribbon and 3-d embellishments.  Note: purple flower embellishment was created by hand cutting flower shape, then applying light coat of mod podge to it and "forming"  the shape with fingertips before allowing to dry.  It was then adhered to letter.

Print photo to fit inside opening in center of letter "O".  Adhere photo to backside of this letter.  Cut and punch tiny photographs using various makers, then attach them to letters as extra embellishments.

Project created using Earthy Serenity Power Palette Kit, Stickers from various palettes (Love Stickers), Scissors, Craft Knife and Mod Podge.

Valentine Project Idea of the Day #28

Here's a great valentine gift idea that coaches, teachers, or just about anyone would love.  These can used month after month, year after year!

OlsonClipboard  NelsonClipboard

How to create:
Measure and cut paper to fit on clipboard.  Using Corner Maker, round bottom 2 corners on paper to match rounded corners on clipboard.  Adhere to clipboard using tape runner.  Decorate bottom portion of clipboard by spelling teacher or coach's name in large monogram letters, then adding supporting words above and below.

Adhere calendar mat to clipboard using clear photo corners, so each month a new calendar sheet can be swapped in.  Adhere day labels across the top of the calendar mat, directly on to clipboard.

Create a year's worth of month titles by adhering month name stickers to paper, then trimming around, so each month a different month title can be clipped across the top of the board. Number a year's worth of calendar mats, then jot on the back which month each calendar is for.  Include these pieces, along with several punched shapes (stars and circles for coaches, hearts, flowers, bursts, stars, etc. for teachers) so teacher can adhere to special dates on the calendar.  Also include Fine-Tip Pen with gift.  Finish decorating clipboard by adding extra embellishments and stickers.

Ms. Olson's Clipboard created using green paper from Jewel Heritage Power Palette Kit, Cardstocks - Taffy & Pink Lemonade, Swirly Brown Monogram Stickers, Swirly Brown ABC/123 Stickers, Calendar Mats, Calendar Week Titles, Calendar Month Titles, Corner Maker, Friendship Micro Maker, Mini Circle Maker, Circle Maker, Fine-Tip Pen - Cocoa, Photo Corners, Ribbon, Buttons, Precision Point Adhesive and Scissors.
